St. Michael's Catholic Church

A Parish of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter

St. Michael the Archangel

Holy Week 2018

The Pastor extends a warm invitation to all those devoted to the traditional practices of Holy Mother Church to join us for a very special Holy Week 2018. This year St. Michael’s parish is blessed to receive the assistance of Fr. Gerard Saguto, North American Superior of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and Deacon Christopher Fitzpatrick FSSP. Please make every effort to spend time with us on our liturgical journey as we retrace the path of Christ from His triumphant entry into Jerusalem to His final steps to Golgotha and beyond.

With the assistance of Fr. Saguto and Deacon Fitzpatrick the Pastor is pleased to announce the Solemn celebration of this years liturgy from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, with Solemn High Mass offered every evening. A full schedule of events is given below:

Palm Sunday – Solemn High Mass & Blessing of Palms (one mass only) at 9:30am

Monday of Holy Week – Confessions from 6:00pm, Solemn High Mass at 7:00pm

Tuesday of Holy Week – Confessions from 6:00pm, Solemn High Mass at 7:00pm

Spy Wednesday – Confessions from 6:00pm, Solemn High Mass at 7:00pm

Holy Thursday – Confessions from 6:00pm, Solemn High Mass at 7:00pm with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until Midnight

Good Friday – Stations of the Cross at 2:00pm, Rosary from 2:30pm, Mass of the Pre-sanctified at 3:00pm

Holy Saturday – No Confessions, Easter Vigil beginning with the Blessing of the New Fire at 7:30pm

Easter Sunday – Confessions 30mins before Low Mass at 8:00am and Solemn High Mass at 10:15am

N.B. While the 1983 Code of Cannon Law permits for any Mass after 4pm on Saturday to supply for the Sunday obligation the Pastor reminds those regularly attending St. Michael’s that the traditional Easter Vigil is not considered a Mass of anticipation and is therefore a unique liturgical event which should not preclude attendance at Mass on Easter Sunday.
